BOSTON — Lewiston native Mark Anthoine scored a power-play goal midway through the third period to lift the the University of Maine men’s hockey team to a 4-2 win over No. 2 Boston University in a Hockey East game Friday night at Agganis Arena.

Spencer Abbott added an empty-net goal for No. 20 Maine (13-8-3, 10-7-2), which handed BU (15-7-1, 12-5-1) its first loss in 2012.

Maine led 2-1 before a power outage at Agganis Arena forced the teams off the ice. BU scored the equalizer shortly after the game resumed on a Ross Gaudet goal with 7:22 left in the second period.

Adam Shemansky and John Parker also scored for Maine, which trailed 1-0 after the first period.

Dan Sullivan had 28 saves to earn the victory.

Men’s basketball

UM-Farmington 75, Green Mountain 42: Maranacook Community School graduate Kevin Leary scored 15 points and grabbed five rebounds the Beavers won in Poultney, Vt.

Pet Sumner added 15 points for the Beavers, who improve to 10-7, 10-1 in the North Atlantic Conference. Joe McCloskey added 11 points

Women’s basketball

Castleton 87, Thomas 39: Vanessa Powers scored 21 points in 23 minutes of play as the Spartans overpowered the Terriers in Castleton, Vt.

Castleton (13-4 overall, 10-1 NAC) had separate runs of 15-2 and 28-2 in the first half, and led 54-14 at the break.

Karin Bird led Thomas (2-15, 2-9) with 19 points.

UM-Farmington 61, Green Mountain 49:
Holly Oliver had 14 points as the Beavers won in Poultney, Vt.

Kenni Norton added eight points for UMF (6-10, 5-5 in the NAC).

Millicent Hopper had 16 points and Chelsea Paul 12 for Green Mountain (2-14, 0-11 in the conference).

Women’s hockey

Trinity 3, Colby 0: Brianne Wheeler had 32 saves, but the Mules were shutout in a loss to the Bantams in Hartford, Conn.

The Mules fall to 4-11-2, 1-9-1 in the New England Small College Athletic Conference. Colby has scored just six goals in its last seven games.

Skiing

Colby Nordic skier John Dixon finished seventh in the men’s classic spring at the University of New Hampshire Carnival. Dixon finished in 3 minutes, 35.89 seconds for the Mules, who finished ninth overall.
Sarah Brockett finished 15th overall (4:21.45) to lead the Colby women, who finished 15th.
