Vose Library’s next Vose or Virtual Wednesday series event is scheduled to feature artist Randy Fein at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 15.
This presentation will be pre-recorded and then shown via Zoom. Closed captioning will be available.
The diversity of Fein’s ceramic work is evident in the variety of construction and firing techniques she has chosen to master over time. She creates wheel-thrown, slab-built, and casted pottery that is functional and sculptural. These works are often hand painted with lively, fluid brush strokes using vivid color. Her expressive ceramic pottery and sculptures are inspired by the creatures that inhabit the sea and the sky.
The artist creates one-of-a-kind commissioned tile installations for kitchens and baths. Fein collaborates closely with her clients to create unique residential tile installations that compliment the home.
Fein takes on the challenge of working on a grand scale in clay. She has more than 35 large-scale relief tile and mixed media installations permanently placed in corporate, private and public settings such as schools, libraries and hospitals. A short list includes Eastern Maine Medical Center’s pediatrics facility in Bangor, Maine Medical Center’s emergency wing entrance hall in Portland, Castleton State College in Castleton, Vermont; Gorham Middle School in Gorham; and Babson College in Wellesley, Massachusetts.
A sampling of Fein’s ceramic art is on display at the library, 392 Common Road in Union.
