AUGUSTA — The free walk-in COVID-19 vaccination clinic at the Augusta Armory was canceled Wednesday as a storm brought freezing rain and icy road conditions across the region, but the clinic was due to reopen Thursday this week.
The hours of operation are from noon to 7 p.m. on Thursday. No appointments are needed for the clinic, which is at the armory at 179 Western Ave. and can be reached from the Airport Road access route.
Dr. Nirav Shah, director of the Maine CDC, wrote in a tweet Wednesday that officials canceled that day’s clinic over concerns about the icy roads and potential for vehicle crashes.
The clinic is offering all vaccine types, as well as booster shots and doses for children age 5 and older. Officials previously said the clinic would run through at least the end of the month, although a poster included in Shah’s Wednesday tweet indicated the clinic would run “through early January 2022.”

Those seeking booster shots are asked to bring their vaccination cards with them.
