The General Federation of Women’s Clubs Semper Fidelis Club, based in Skowhegan, held its first meeting this year via Zoom with speaker Sarah Irish from the Senior Planning Center. Members — who also hail from neighboring towns of Norridgewock, New Sharon, Canaan and Madison — learned of some tips entering retirement, according to a news release from the club.
New members Jan Clark, Jill Longstaff, Lisa Miller, Taylor Osgood, Mary Pono, Megan Smith, Rachel Stymist and Amanda Taylor join other club members with great regard to new ideas and tremendous support.
The club advocates for making a difference in its communities, supporting local libraries, education principles, art and cultural programs or events, civic engagement, environmental projects, and healthy lifestyles.
Members are selling tickets for a Cheers, Chocolate, & Art raffle basket. Two baskets filled with wine, chocolates and art (glasses, swag, and art inspired note cards from children of the Dragonfly Academy and the Children’s Center.
The focus is to raise funds for these two schools art classroom for autistic children.
The club meets the second and fourth Wednesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. in person and at times through Zoom.
