Gardiner Area High School has announced its top 10 graduates for the class of 2022.
Brett Palmer, the valedictorian, is the son of Jim and Darlene Palmer of West Gardiner. He is one of two students in Maine designated a 2022 US Presidential Scholar; a National Merit Scholar finalist; a two-year member of the school’s chapter of the National Honor Society; a first degree black belt in Isshinryu karate; and a member of the Spanish Club, math team and Drama Club.
He is a co-president of Student Council and co-president of the National Honor Society chapter.
Palmer plans to attend the University of Maine and double major in computer science and new media.
Ava Goraj, the salutatorian, is the daughter of Thomas and Shelley Goraj of West Gardiner. She has been a member of school’s chapter of the National Honor Society during her senior year, is a three-year member of the jazz band, a four-year member of the concert band, a four-year member of the math team, and a four-year member of the Latin Club (president her junior and senior years).
Goraj has participated in musical productions, is a four-year member of the varsity soccer team, and is the team manager for the spring track team.
Goraj plans to attend the University of Maine and major in psychology while participating in the Honors College.
Leah Pushard is the daughter of Donald and Tracy Pushard of Pittston. She has been a four-year member of the varsity field hockey team and was team captain her senior year.
Pushard plans to attend Husson University and major in exercise science.
Skye Cotnoir is the daughter of Jeremy and Sara Cotnoir of West Gardiner. She has been a member of the school’s National Honor Society chapter, participated in band and chorus programs, been a four-year member of the Drama Club, a two-year member of the Interact Club (president her junior year), and a four-year member of the varsity lacrosse team.
Cotnoir plans to attend the University of Southern Maine and major in music education.
Jayda Williams is daughter of John and Erin Williams of Gardiner. She has been a four-year member of the theater program, a four-year member of the Civil Rights Team, and a member of the math team, Book Club, Art Club, and GSDA.
Williams plans to attend Smith College and major in pre-veterinary medicine.
Grace Milliken is the daughter of Dave Perry and Judy Whyte of West Gardiner. She has been a two-year member of the school’s chapter of the National Honor Society, a four-year member of the select choir, a four-year member of the varsity soccer program, a four-year member of the varsity swim team (captain her junior and senior years), and a four-year member of the varsity lacrosse team.
Milliken plans to attend the University of Rhode Island and major in nursing.
Piper Kollman-Veit is the daughter of Anthony Veit and Katherine Kollman of Gardiner. She has been a two-year member of the school’s chapter of the National Honor Society, a four-year member of the Student Council (president her senior year), and a four-year member of the concert band.
Kollman-Veit plans to attend the New York Institute of Technology and major in business.
Isaac Dostie is the son of Gabe and Amber Dostie of West Gardiner. He has been a two-year member of the school’s chapter of the National Honor Society, a four-year member of the Latin Club, a four-year member of the varsity cross country team, a four-year member of the varsity track team, a four-year cast member in the musical productions, and a four-year member of the jazz
and concert bands.
Dostie plans to attend Colby College and major in biochemistry.
Meagan Ladner is the daughter of Gary and Nicole Ladner of West Gardiner. She has been a two-year member of the school’s chapter of the National Honor Society, a four-year member of the varsity field hockey team, a two-year member of the varsity tennis team, and a two-year member of the French Club.
Ladner plans to attend the University of Southern Maine and major in health sciences.
Lorelei Mason is the daughter of Joshua and JoAnna Mason of Gardiner. She has been a member of school’s chapter of the National Honor Society, a four-year member of the varsity soccer program, a four-year member of the Robotics team (team captain her senior year), and four-year member of the select choir.
Mason plans to attend Maine Maritime Academy and major in marine systems engineering.
