If you’ve never been to Cumston Hall, in downtown Monmouth, you’re missing out on a special experience.

Built in 1900, Cumston Hall is an amazing structure that still houses the Cumston Library, The Theater at Monmouth, Monmouth Community Players and other various school and civic organizations.

The Friends of Cumston Hall formed in the 1990s to help expand the building and to raise money for the hall, which, over the years, had fallen into disrepair.

More than a decade later, the final restoration of Cumston Hall is almost complete, bringing the hard work, labor and tireless efforts of hundreds of people to an auspicious end.

On Sept. 24, more than 100 people braved a cold drizzle to participate in the Friends of Cumston Hall Apple Fest 5k.

In our third year, the race continues to be a successful way to raise funds for the maintenance of Cumston Hall.

We thank our sponsors, our racers and all of the friends, past and present, who have contributed to the effort of restoring this gem to its original beauty.
