Jesus says in the book of Mark to love God with all of our mind, heart, soul and strength. Jesus also says to love our neighbor as ourselves.

I believe that it was recently reported that Sen. Susan Collins was present at a meeting where Moammar Gadhafi was offered weapons. If this is true, then this is immoral and not loving one’s neighbors, including the democracy thirsty citizens of Libya.

Does the committee on Homeland Security on which Collins sits offer weapons paid for by our tax dollars to corrupt dictators in the Middle East who torture their own people so that rich friends of the committee can take the resources of these countries?

I believe that Sen. Olympia Snowe and her colleagues on an intelligence committee are sitting on the results of an investigation of enhanced interrogation done by the CIA.

Torture is not loving one’s enemies. Torture is immoral. I believe torture breaks U.S. and international laws. I believe all experts have said that torture never produces credible intelligence. Did Snowe approve of the torture done by our government? Is this why she is not releasing the results?

I believe that Sen. Patrick Leahy, D-Vt., and and Rep. John Conyers, D-Mich., have been sitting on their hands for four to five years and have not investigated all the torture that was done during the administrations of George W. Bush and Barack Obama.

I believe that even the former Secretary of State Colin Powell has said that he would testify if former Vice President Dick Cheney is investigated.

Did Leahy and Conyers approve this torture? I believe that the time has come for people in Congress to love their neighbors and serve the rest of us or leave.
