PORTLAND — Time Warner Internet and cable telephone customers throughout New England were without service for about an hour this morning following a network outage.

The outage occurred at 8:40 a.m. and service was restored by about 9:40 a.m. A statement from the company said engineers are investigating the cause of the outage.

The disruption affected customers in the Northeast, including all of New England, but the company would not say how many customers were affected because that information is proprietary, said spokesman Andrew Russell.
