On Nov. 8, Augusta voters will elect two first-time, at-large city councilors.

Of the four candidates, only two have a solid and diverse history of serving the residents of Augusta.

Cory Vose and David Smith have volunteered, in numerous ways, for many years; their records of local achievements and community service demonstrate unusual competence and ability.

For them, the decision to run for council is based on first-hand knowledge and understanding of the hard work and long hours that community service demands. They have repeatedly demonstrated that they are up to the task.

I don’t wonder about any no personal agenda, I have no question about motivation or their ability to work constructively with local residents, business owners and other members of the council.

If others check the candidates’ records carefully, I believe they too will vote for Vose and Smith.
