PITTSFIELD — Jenessa Foster, Ella Bernier and Ashlee Jarvis all tallied goals for the Maine Central Institute field hockey team in a 3-1 win over Foxcroft Academy in the season opener for both teams on Wednesday.
Hannah Weaver had an assist for the Huskies (1-0). Chi Chi Rivera had 13 saves.
Lauren Martin scored the lone goal for the Ponies (0-1), with an assist from Emily McLeish.
GARDINER 5, MORSE 0: Bri Smith scored twice and added an assist to lead the Tigers to a win over the Shipbuilders.
Taryn Nichols added a goal and an assist for Gardiner (1-0) while Savanna Brown and Macy Hickey each chipped in a goal. McKenna Johnson had an assist and Cassidy Clark made one save in net.
Lydia Brown stopped eight shots for Morse (0-1).
OAK HILL 3, MOUNTAIN VALLEY 2: Lexi Pelkey had a goal and an assists for the Raiders (1-0) in a Mountain Valley Conference win over the Falcons (0-1) in Wales.
Izzy Whitaker and Emma Bourgoin potted goals for Oak Hill and goalie Ella Martin stopped seven shots.
Mallory Bourret scored twice in the first quarter for Mountain Valley and Brooke Brown stopped 19 shots.
DIRIGO 5, WINTHROP 3: Grace Averill scored two goals, including the game-winner in the third quarter, for the Cougars in the season-opening win over the defending Class C state champions in Dixfield.
Jayce Brophy also notched two goals and assisted on Emily Woods’ goal in the fourth quarter to make it 5-3 for Dirigo (1-0). Grace Robbins assisted on both goals by Averill. Goalie Alivia Ellis made 14 saves in the win.
Bella Littler had two goals for Winthrop (0-1) and Izzy Folsom had a tally. Madeline Wagner assisted on two goals and Madison Weymouth made five saves.
LEAVITT 3, CONY 2: Elise Cunningham scored both goals for the Rams in a loss to the Hornets in Turner.
Abby Morrill had two assists for Cony (0-1).
Cierra Barker scored two goals, while Katie Sirois added a goal for Leavitt (1-0).
