SEARSPORT — Maine lobstermen are competing for prizes and bragging rights as the state’s lobster boat races continue this weekend.

Lobstermen will be throttling their engines at races in Searsport today. More races will be held Sunday in Stonington.

There are 10 days of races along the Maine coast this summer where the fastest of the souped-up boats can reach speeds faster than 60 mph.

Races were previously held in Boothbay Harbor, Rockland and Jonesport. More races will be held later this summer in Friendship, Harpswell, Winter Harbor, Pemaquid and Portland.
