Capital Area Technical Center has announced its March professionals of the month.

Ethan Lavigne of Gardiner is a junior at Gardiner Area High School enrolled in the Automotive Technology program. He has liked how the program has been a team environment and has given him a chance to work closely with his classmates. A big bonus for him has been earning industry recognized certifications while in the program, according to a news release from the Augusta center.

He earned a lubrication and car lift certification. He feels these certifications helped him get hired by Darling’s Auto, as a technician.

His instructor, Joe Rabideau, said, “Ethan is attentive and brings knowledge to class discussions and skills to shop work. He is always polite and gets great reviews from his co-workers at Darling’s.”

Next year, Lavigne plans to return to CATC for another year of Auto Tech instruction, as well as continue working at Darlings. His long-term goal is to own an auto shop that specializes in customizing vehicles.

Jasper Parrilli of Augusta is a senior at Cony High School enrolled in the Culinary Arts program. He has learned trade secrets that have helped his culinary techniques. He is proud of the times he has earned the Ketchup Chair Award, given weekly to one culinary arts student that has has had exceptional performance in class.

His instructor, Chef Patrick Austin, said, “Jasper is a student that shows natural talent in the kitchen and kindness. He is willing to go above and beyond to accomplish any challenge he is given. He shows up every day ready to work with a positive attitude and sense of humor. He is willing to come before class or stay after to help with whatever we need help with. He is a true honor to have in class.”

Outside of class, Parrilli likes sports and played football, and e earned a starting position in his senior first year playing lacrosse. He has been a student helper in Cony’s special education classes. In the fall, he plans to attend Norwich University with the goal of becoming a special education teacher.

Capital Area Technical Center serves high school students from Cony, Erskine Academy, Gardiner, Hall-Dale, Maranacook Community, Monmouth Academy, Richmond and Winthrop high schools. The center offers 16 Career and Technical Education programs that help jumpstart students career paths. High school students interested in enrolling at CATC should contact their high school school counselor.
