RICHMOND — A presentation, “Butterflies of Maine,” followed by a butterfly survey, will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, June 21, on Swan Island in the Kennebec River.
Bob Gobeil will help attendees survey Swan Island for butterflies after presenting information about Maine’s butterflies and the Maine Butterfly Survey. Gobeil has been an active volunteer for the Maine Butterfly Survey since 2007. Extra nets and collection equipment will be available. Participants should bring food, water and a camera.
Attendees will meet at the Swan Island Mainland ferry landing, corner of routes 197 and 24, before 9 a.m. The ferry will leave at 9 a.m. The cost is $8 per person.
