FAIRFIELD — A man was arrested this week after a search of his Fairfield residence turned up nearly 250 grams of illegal drugs and 13 firearms, the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office said Thursday.

Jeremy Goodwin, 43, was arrested and charged with three counts of aggravated trafficking in scheduled drugs and violating conditions of release, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office.
Authorities had been investigating Goodwin for several months after learning of drugs being sold from his home on Middle Road, Sheriff Dale Lancaster said in the release.
A team of sheriff’s detectives and deputies executed a search warrant at the residence around 6 a.m. Wednesday, Lancaster said.
The search turned up about 165 grams of crystal methamphetamine, 55 grams of crack cocaine, 23 grams of fentanyl, 125 Clonidine pills and around $4,000 in suspected illegal drug proceeds, Lancaster said. Clonidine is a sedative used for different purposes, including lowering blood pressure and the heart rate by relaxing the arteries and increasing blood supply to the heart, according to the National Institutes of Health.
The drugs have an approximate street value of over $24,000, he said.
Authorities also seized 13 handguns and rifles, drug-related documentation and drug paraphernalia.
Goodwin is being held without bail at the Somerset County Jail in Madison. At the time of his arrest, Goodwin was out on bail for unrelated felony drug-trafficking charges, Lancaster said.
Goodwin has an initial court appearance in Skowhegan scheduled for Jan. 3.
