SIDNEY — New England Music Camp and Snow Pond Center for the Arts recently announced that From the Top with host Christopher O’Riley, the pre-eminent showcase for young musicians heard weekly on Maine Public Broadcasting Network will come to Sidney to record a radio broadcast 6:30 p.m. Friday. The NPR radio program features the performances and personal stories of young classical musicians from across the country. Presented by New England Music Camp and Snow Pond Center for the Arts, tickets are available at SnowPond.org.
New England Music Camp will work in conjunction with From The Top to help promote the launch of Snow Pond Center for the Arts and will host an Open House for the Snow Pond Community Music School, which is set to open in September. The open house is set for 3-5:30 p.m. and will be followed by a barbecue dinner that will lead up to the From The Top Performance. Children ages 4 and up and their families are encouraged to attend the open house prior to the performance.
Also planned is the Snow Pond Music Festival. Frederick L. Hemke Saxophone Institute Final Recital is set for 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Alumni Hall, New England Music Camp. The solo and chamber music will feature participants attending FLHSI at the Snow Pond Music Festival. The event is free.
Maine Chamber Music Seminar Final Recitals are set for 3-5:30 p.m. and 7:30-9:30 p.m. Saturday at Alumni Hall at New England Music Camp, Route 23, Sidney. Various Chamber music featuring the musicians of the Maine Chamber Music Seminar will include string, piano, harp and wind works of Beethoven, Ravel, Janacek, Brahms, Ligeti, Mozart, Schubert, Penderecki, Roussel, Dvorak, Martinu, Thuille and Schumann. Part of the Snow Pond Music Festival.
