Regional School Unit 12 has announced the winners of its county/district speech contest sponsored by Modern Woodmen of America.
Morgan Young, an eighth-grade student at Chelsea Elementary School, placed first. He won a $50 cash award and trophy and his school will receive an engraved trophy.
Clara Mugnai, an eighth-grade student from Wiscasset Middle School, placed second, and Cassie DiBenedetti, an eighth-grade student from Chelsea Elementary School, placed third. They also received trophies.
Prior to the contest, students had already won first, second and third place in their local-level contests held at Chelsea Elementary School, Palermo Consolidated School, Whitefield Elementary School, Windsor Elementary School and Wiscasset Middle School. Students shared their presentations on this year’s topic, “The Importance of Healthy Living”.
