WATERVILLE — First Fridays celebrate the vibrant creativity in Waterville through an array of arts experiences. On the first Friday of every month, visit Main Street in downtown Waterville to meet artists, see performances, listen to live music, eat food, shop at local businesses, enjoy the arts, and come together as a community.
Throughout the day on Friday, Nov. 3, the following events are scheduled at multiple locations.
Meet and Greet and art making with author Jaimie Hogan is set for 5-7 p.m. at the Paul J. Schupf Art Center, 93 Main St. The event is an evening of creativity and stargazing with the renowned children’s book author and illustrator of “StarWatcher.” This book is currently featured on the Story Walk along the North Street Community Connector Trail.
Star Party with John Meader and Jaimie Hogan is set for 7:30 p.m. at the Quarry Road Recreation Area on Quarry Road. As the sun sets and the skies darken, participants can experience a mesmerizing star party. Local astronomer John Meader, of Northern Stars Planetarium, will be on hand to guide attendees through the night sky, pointing out constellations, planets, and other celestial wonders. In case of rain or clouds, we will be inside the Schupf Center.
A Viewing of Painted: Our Bodies, Hearts, and Village is scheduled for 4 p.m. at Colby College Museum of Art, 1600 Mayflower Hill. The viewing will be facilitated by exhibition curators and members of the museum staff.
