Downeast Trout Unlimited plans to hold a hybrid meeting about PFAS in Maine: Background and Where We Are Now at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 15, at the Moore Community Center at 125 State St. in Ellsworth and via Zoom.
Louise Roy, environmental hydrogeologist with the Maine Department of Environmental Protection, will give an overview of PFAS then transition into surface water and fish related data. Her work relates to the investigation, remediation, and monitoring of sites contaminated by hazardous substances all over Maine. She studies sites contaminated with PFAS as outlined in LD1600 “An Act to Investigate Perfluoroalkyl and Polyfluoroalkyl Substance Contamination of Land and Groundwater,” according to a news release from Tammy Packie with Downeast.
Roy lives in New Gloucester, enjoys fishing, and is the president of the Maine Girl’s Ice Hockey Association.
As a bonus Cody Leighton, DETU attendee at the Maine Trout Camp, will share his experiences. Pleasant River Fish and Game Club is sponsoring his full tuition.
