AUGUSTA — A Kennebec 4-H Open House is scheduled to begin at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 18, at the Buker Community Center, 22 Armory St.

The University of Maine Extension plans to welcome area folks to a free event for families with fun, interactive activities through the afternoon to learn about what its 4-H clubs and volunteers are doing and how people could be involved.

Those who attend can learn about beekeeping, robotics, food, upcoming vet science programs, and home gardening with 4-H youth and Cooperative Extension experts. People can also meet a pony and learn about equine health and care. The 4-H program is for all young people, with opportunities for fun and friendship for youth ages 5-18.

This open house also is an invitation to the adult community to learn about becoming a 4-H volunteer, to give time, energy, and expertise back into the community. Whether people are interested in teaching a one-time workshop on a topic they know and care about, or joining the efforts in an after-school club, they can invest in the Kennebec community through the 4-H Youth Development program.
