PORTSMOUTH, N.H. — The owners of a tanker that struck a bridge connecting Maine and New Hampshire have reached a $1.3 million settlement on cost reimbursement.
The departments of transportation for both states announced the settlement Wednesday. Bill Boynton of the New Hampshire department said the settlement represents a full reimbursement of construction costs associated with repair of the bridge and recovery of additional expenses incurred by the states.

The vessel struck the Sarah Mildred Long Bridge on April 1 last year. The states sued the owners, saying the crew didn’t secure the tanker properly.
The owners of the Portuguese oil tanker MV Harbor Feature had said the two states were guilty of negligence. A trial was scheduled for October if the parties couldn’t reach an agreement.
