HINCKLEY — L.C. Bates Museum has the planned the following events.
• Fossils and Dinosaurs Explored is set to begin at 1 p.m. Saturday. Participants can peek into the past of dinosaurs, trilobites and can learn earn about the Maine State Fossil. A fossil can be made to bring home and the museum will be to explore the fossil collections.
• Passenger Pigeon Day is set for 1 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 6. Participants can learn what happened to the passenger pigeon, perhaps the largest population of birds in North America. Why did they become extinct in 1914. Find out their story and what can be done to help area animals and plants.
• International Moon Night will take place at 7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 6. Those interested can learn exactly what the moon is made of. What are the mysteries of the only other surface in our solar system that humans have set foot on. Discover the moon through a telescope, make moon phases and explore moon wonders all in one evening.
