Maine residents complained about evasive, smooth-talking politicians who would say anything to entice the vote, with no specific plan — or sometimes even no intention of keeping their promises.

We wanted someone upfront to tell us like it is, so we elected Gov. Paul LePage. He tackled and solved hard issues, like the hospital debt, open-ended welfare and expanding welfare. But some complained about his delivery method.

Which is more important, superficial career politicians or someone to get the job done? I liken the situation to two surgeons: one has the wonderful bedside manner, telling the patient what they want to hear, but lacks skill in the operating room; the other, like our governor, isn’t as sweet-tongued, but knows if an operation is required, and if so, where to cut for the patient to make a full recovery.

Myself, I much prefer the latter surgeon. I urge the re-election of Gov. LePage.
