My name is John A. Strout. I am 9 years old. I’m in Cub Scout Pack 684 in Augusta.

I am working on my citizenship pin. A requirement that I need to complete is writing a letter to the newspaper of an issue that concerns me.

I go to Hall-Dale Elementary School in Hallowell. My fourth-grade level has three teachers and 18-20 students per class. If class sizes were smaller, students would have more individual time with the teachers and get better grades.

I know that in order to have more teachers the schools in Maine need to have a bigger school budget. This is my concern and I don’t know how to fix it.
