FAYETTE — Friends of Starling Hall is planning its second benefit for the historical Grange hall with a Beat the Winter Blues brunch and open house from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 17. Those who attend this open house will feast on Cajun food and enjoy music by Phil Poirier, according to a news release from the group. The menu will feature jambalaya, corn bread, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, and crepes, and will include spicy and mild options. Poirier’s music has been described as “contemporary pop/folk with a touch of the blues.”

Friends of Starling Hall is a committee of Fayette residents who began organizing after the June 2014 Town Meeting, when citizens elected to keep Starling Hall. The group surveyed residents, held an initial benefit Italian dinner, and met with a local architectural firm to assess the structural needs. The Friends of Starling Hall are encouraged by its neighbors’ interest and commitments for support, and will share plans and listen to ideas during the event.

The Beat the Winter Blues brunch and open house will take place in Starling Hall, 2769 Main St., Route 17. The cost is $6 for adults, $3 for children, and $20 for families of six or more. For more information, contact Maggie Chadwick at chadwickmaggie@gmail.com.
