The newspaper couldn’t print what I’d like to say about Patrik Ian Arsenault, 28, “Former teacher to serve 65 years” (Jan. 24) for sexually assaulting young boys, but I can think it.
Judge John Woodcock said Arsenault committed “unspeakable acts,” but chose not to use sentencing guidelines allowing a potential life sentence. Thank God, these children weren’t killed, but their lives and their parents have been ruined forever.
If this crime is so “unspeakable,” as Judge Woodcock said, I believe it should be included in the death penalty legislation that Sen. Bill Diamond, D-Windham, is trying to get passed to protect children. There’s no excuse, rehabilitation or forgiveness for what Arsenault has done to these children.
