Theresa J. Cloutier, of Augusta, has been selected by the Maine State Association of American Mothers as its candidate for 2015. She will represent Maine as the honoree for the 2015 Mother of the Year Award through American Mothers Inc. National Convention April 23-26 in Washington, D.C.

Cloutier is the mother of 10 children and native to Augusta. She has been active in church and community service while raising her family and working for the state of Maine for 30 years. In retirement she continues to offer her services as a volunteer in church projects through her participation in Hands for Humanity, the Cursillo Movement and The Apostolates of Mary, according to a news release by the Maine State Association of American Mothers.

She is one of many volunteers at MaineGeneral and holds membership in the Gardiner/Augusta Lions Club, where she has been in leadership roles for 22 years. She is a member of Augusta Elk’s scholarship program and a member of Le Club Calumet and Post 2 American Legion Auxiliary. Additionally, she is an officer of the Cushnoc Seniors in Augusta, a member of the Manchester Senior Club and a red hatter of the Ruby Gems.

A benefit spaghetti supper is set for 6 p.m. Wednesday, March 25, at the Calumet Club to help defray the cost of the trip. Cost is $10, to purchase tickets, call Julie Brawn at 622-5675, Kitty White at 622-3469 or Lina Michaud at 621-2650.
