Erskine Academy senior Madison Michaud, of Vassalboro, recently was selected to receive the 2015 Principals Award. The award, sponsored by the Maine Principals’ Association, is given in recognition of a high school senior’s academic achievement and citizenship, according to a news release from Headmaster Mike McQuarrie.
Throughout her years at Erskine Academy, Michaud has distinguished herself in the classroom, on the playing field, and as a leader in the school and community. Michaud, who is a high honor roll student, is a member of National Honor Society, she has been a four-year member of the EA Leadership Team, and she is a member of Student Council. In addition, she participated on the field hockey, indoor track and lacrosse teams, and she has completed a variety of community service projects outside the Erskine community as well. Michaud is the daughter of Kim and Ross Michaud, of Vassalboro.
Michaud, McQuarrie and other award winners and their principals will attend an honors luncheon at the Spectacular Event Center in Bangor at 12:30 p.m. Saturday, April 11. The honors luncheon recognizes these outstanding students with the presentation of an individual plaque and will award five $1,000 scholarships in the names of Horace O. McGowan and Richard W. Tyler. McGowan and Tyler were former Maine principals and executive directors of the association.
The Principal’s Award is presented in more than 100 Maine public and private high schools by member principals of the MPA, the professional association which represents Maine’s school administrators.
