House Republican Leader Ken Fredette, R-Newport, says that Sen. Roger Katz, R-Augusta, is out of step with current Republican principles. I agree.

As I see it, Katz is in step with the principles of intelligence, cooperativeness, collaboration, reasonableness and humaneness.

I applaud Katz and wish more of his Republican colleagues would follow these same principles.
