WATERVILLE — A free educational seminar about the treatment and diagnosis of varicose veins is set for 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, June 3, at Best Western Plus Waterville Grand Hotel, 375 Main St. Dinner will be served at 5:30 p.m. followed by the presentation and a question/answer session. The event is sponsored by Inland Hospital and Eastern Maine Medical Center.
“Varicose veins are very common, affecting more than half of people 50 years of age and older,” said Mona Li, a venous surgeon and phlebologist at EMMC Vascular Care of Maine, in a news release from Inland Hospital. “People who have varicose veins may explore treatment options for cosmetic reasons, or they may seek out help because their veins are painful. If left untreated, varicose veins can cause ulcers and other serious health issues.”
Inland Hospital and EMMC are partnering on the event to bring awareness to the condition, help people determine when the time is right for an evaluation, and discuss treatment options. Diagnosis is offered right at Inland Hospital.
“As part of EMHS, Inland and EMMC are proud to work together to improve patient care in the greater Waterville area and the surrounding communities we serve,” said John Dalton, Inland Hospital President and CEO, in the release. “It’s part of our commitment to the community to offer educational sessions like this one that can help so many people.”
