James Senior, 39, of Clinton, pleaded guilty Thursday in U.S. District Court in Bangor to robbing a Newport pharmacy in March.
Senior faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in prison and a $250,000 fine, according to a news release from U.S. Attorney Thomas Delahanty. He will be sentenced after a presentence investigation by the U.S. Probation Office.
Senior, on March 31, gave a note to a pharmacist in the Newport Rite Aid demanding oxycodone and saying employees would be hurt if his demand wasn’t met. He told the employees to “hurry up” and “get moving,” according to the release. He left the pharmacy with three bottles of oxycodone and hydrocodone-ibuprofen pills.
Police got a tip after releasing video of the robber and comparing it to photos of Senior.
He surrendered to Waterville police the next day and admitted he was the robber, according to the release.
The investigation was by Newport police, Waterville police, Maine State Police and the FBI.
