LYNDON CENTER, Vt. — Bronte Howarth scored a pair of goals as the Thomas College women’s soccer team sank Lyndon State 4-1 in a North Atlantic Conference game Saturday afternoon.
Cassie Contigiani notched a goal and an assist for Thomas (4-3, 1-0 NAC), Kajsa Kaufeldt scored once and both Emily Dufour, of Waterville, and Lauren Pelletier notched assists.
Jordan Manning scored the lone goal for Lyndon St. (1-5-1, 0-1 NAC) off an assist from Shelby Sheridan.
UMAINE-FARMINGTON 1, MAINE MARITIME 1, OT: Ashley Gleason gave the Beavers a 1-0 lead at halftime but they could not hold on in a draw with the Mariners at Leib Field in Farmington.
Susana DeFrank had the goal for Maine Maritime (1-5-1, 0-1-1 NAC) off an assist from Lauren McKenna. Lillian Larochelle chipped in with an assist for UMF (2-4-1, 0-1-1 NAC).
SOUTHERN MAINE CC 2, UNITY 1, OT: Madelyn Wade scored in the 100th minute to lift the Seawolves to a win in Unity.
Mt. Blue graduate Zyrah Giustra scored for SMCC (5-1, 2-1 YSCC) in the final minute of the first half, but Unity (2-5, 1-1 YSCC) answered with a goal from Mariza Gionfriddo in the opening minute of the second half.
TRINITY 1, COLBY 0: Andi Nicholson scored the game’s lone goal off an assist from Lauren Nee to lift the Bantams (5-1, 3-1 NESCAC) over the Mules (1-3-1, 0-3-1 NESCAC) in Waterville.
FIELD HOCKEY
MAINE 8, BRYANT 0: Casey Crowley notched a hat trick as Maine (7-2) blanked Bryant (2-7) in Smithfield, Rhode Island.
Sydney Veljacic added two goals for the Black Bears (8-2).
UMAINE-FARMINGTON 5, NEW ENGLAND COLLEGE 0: Mara Balboni, a Messalonskee grad, scored twice to lead the Beavers to a convincing win over Pilgrims in Farmington.
Gardiner’s Leanne Greenleaf, Sarita Crandall, a Mt. Blue grad, and Jenessa Talarico also scored for Farmington (5-1, 1-0 North Atlantic Conference). Patty Smith made two saves in the cage. Michaela Clark stopped five shots for New England College (2-8, 0-1 NAC).
TRINITY 6, COLBY 2: Brenna Hobin and Chandler Solimine led the way for Trinity (3-3, 2-2 NESCAC) with two goals apiece. Megan Fortier and Erika Smith each had goals for Colby (4-3, 1-3 NESCAC).
MEN’S SOCCER
COLBY 1, TRINITY 1, OT: After 80 minutes of scoreless soccer, each team scored in the span of 3:17 as the Mules and Bantams settled for a tie in Waterville.
Tim Stanton scored off an assist from Chandler Smith for Colby (2-3-1, 1-2-1 NESCAC) before Cody Savonen tied it for Trinity (2-3-2, 0-3-1 NESCAC).
THOMAS 6, LYNDON ST. 0: D.J. Nicholas had a hat trick as the Terriers overwhelmed the Hornets in Lyndon Center, Vermont.
Kyle Fletcher added a pair of goals for Thomas (4-3-0, 1-0 North Atlantic Conference), while Tre Ming notched a goal and two assists.
UMAINE-FARMINGTON 1, MAINE MARITIME 1, OT: Ibrahim Achekh scored in the second half to help the Beavers draw the Mariners in Farmington.
Matt Wilson made nine saves in net for the Beavers (3-3-1, 1-0-1 NAC).
SOUTHERN MAINE CC 3, UNITY 0: The Rams outshot the Seawolves 18-15 but could not get the ball past SMCC goalkeeper Drew Martin in a loss in Unity.
Gradi Lapika, Sean Jackson and Harrison Charwat each had goals for SMCC (4-3-1, 4-3-1 Yankee Small College Conference).
Mackenzie Michaud, of Winslow, stopped six shots in goal for Unity 2-4 (1-2 YSCC).
