A Randolph man has been charged in connection with last month’s robbery of an Augusta credit union.
Jamie Morrill, 43, was arrested Monday afternoon inside his Clark Street home and charged with robbery, Augusta Police Deputy Chief Jared Mills said in a release. Morrill was arrested during a warranted search of his home at 22 Clark St.
A bail amount was not immediately available.
Morrill is charged with the Nov. 24 robbery at Trademark Federal Credit Union at 44 Edison Drive.
Mills earlier Monday had sought the public’s help in locating Morrill. He was found a few hours later when Augusta police and Kennebec County sheriff’s deputies searched his home.
Police said at the time that the hold-up, which was reported shortly after 2:30 p.m., was carried out by a man said to be 5 feet 9 inches tall and weighing 180 pounds. The man, in his mid 30s, was wearing a knitted hat, dark hooded sweatshirt, brown jacket, dark sunglasses and a headband covering his face.
The man did not display a weapon but demanded money from a teller, who handed over an unspecified amount of cash.
Police said the man fled on foot and was briefly tracked with the help of a state police trooper with a dog. The track turned up neither the suspect nor additional evidence, police said.
Nobody was injured during the robbery.
