Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump will campaign in Portland on Thursday afternoon, two days before Maine’s Republican caucuses.

The visit was added to Trump’s official schedule on his website late Wednesday. The event will be held in a ballroom at the Westin Harborview at 1:30 p.m., the website said. Tickets are free and can be reserved through the Eventbrite website. Doors open at 9 a.m.

Trump will be joined by Gov. Paul LePage, the governor’s office confirmed.

LePage endorsed the New York billionaire last Friday, five days after he reportedly urged his fellow Republican governors on Feb. 20 to disavow Trump.

The governor announced his endorsement on a Boston radio talk show, saying that he initially hoped one of the governors running for the nomination would be picked.

Opposition to Trump’s visit surfaced on a Facebook page Wednesday night, and Portland School Board member Pious Ali sent an email to announce a protest for 10 a.m. Thursday in Congress Square Park “to stand against Trump’s hate and show that Mainers stand for love, not hate.”
