Shelby Berlew, of Pittston, was awarded a Girl Scout Silver Award in an annual ceremony April 9 at the Augusta Civic Center.
It is the first time in 12 years that anyone in the Cobbossee Service Team 626 has earned the award.
Berlew is a member of Girl Scout Troop 510, which also belongs to the Cobbossee Service Team.
Berlew’s project consisted of planning, gathering materials, and building two picnic tables for the Cohen Center’s Meals on Wheels Program, in Hallowell, with the help of her friends and neighbors.
She is the daughter of Chris and Becky Berlew, of Pittston, and is a freshman at Gardiner Area High School.
