WATERVILLE — Colby College’s Center for Small Town Jewish Life will host the second in a series of Community Conversations from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 18, at Beth Israel Congregation, 291 Main St., according to a Colby College release.

The free program will feature Dan Lugo of Colby College, and Rabbi Jill Jacobs of T’ruah, who will talk about philanthropy, and addressing the question: To what extent do donors have the right to influence policy?

Community Conversations is a series of three discussions bringing together Waterville faith and community institutions with Colby faculty and students to discuss major issues of common concern.

The theme for the 2016-17 year is wealth, and each conversation features two thought-leaders — one Jewish and one secular — in conversation with each other, followed by group discussions with the members of both Colby and Waterville communities over coffee and dessert.

The third Community Conversations program, on Dignity and Wealth, is scheduled at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, April 2, at Beth Israel Congregation.

The first program, held in November with Rabbi Shai Held and Sen. Justin Alfond, focused on Income Inequality.
