A St. Albans man has been arrested by the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office and charged in connection with an alleged sexual assault on a juvenile female family member.
On Sept. 27, Detective Jeremy Leal, of the department’s Criminal Division, received a report of a juvenile female who had been assaulted by an older family member, which allegedly took place in July in Bald Mountain Township. As a result of the investigation, police alleged that Jason Tuttle, 40, of St. Albans was the perpetrator.
Tuttle was arrested and charged with class A gross sexual assault, class B gross sexual assault and class C sexual abuse of a minor. When he was arrested, Tuttle already was on probation for aggravated criminal trespass, so he was charged with probation violation.
The Somerset County Sheriff’s Office is working with the Somerset County District Attorney’s Office on this case. Additional charges may be forthcoming.
Tuttle was taken to the Somerset County Jail. His bail is set at $20,000 cash, and his court appearance is scheduled for Dec. 20 in Somerset County Unified Court.
