Somerset County sheriff’s deputies arrested a 52-year-old North Anson man Friday on illegal-drug charges after a search of his Center Street apartment and his car.
John D. Pierce Jr., also showing a Bowdoin address in county arrest logs, was arrested and charged with furnishing a schedule W drug, morphine, a class C felony; and possession of Suboxone, class D, according to Somerset County Sheriff Dale Lancaster.
A search warrant was carried out just after 10 a.m. at the apartment and in Pierce’s blue, 2003 Toyota Tacoma truck.
Detective Lt. Carl Gottardi II, along with eight deputy sheriffs and the Maine Drug Enforcement agent assigned to the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office, executed the search warrant.
During the search, police seized 50 60-milligram morphine pills, three Suboxone pills, Suboxone strips and 40 Diazepam pills, along with drug-related documentation and drug-related paraphernalia, according to the sheriff.
Once the seized evidence is reviewed and tested and consultation with the Somerset County District Attorney’s Office has taken place, additional charges might be forthcoming against Pierce and others involved, according to Lancaster.
He said Pierce’s arrest is a result of continuing drug investigations in Somerset County.
Pierce remained at the Somerset County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash bail. His initial arraignment is scheduled for March 7 at the Somerset County Unified Court.
