WINSLOW — A Winslow man was injured seriously and taken to the hospital Wednesday evening after his car collided head-on with another vehicle on Augusta Road.
Amos Christiansen, 26, of Winslow, was driving home from work in a 2014 white Nissan Sentra in the northbound lane around 4:48 p.m. when the Sentra crossed the center line, veered into oncoming traffic and struck a 2012 Honda Pilot being driven by Jerrod Bentley, 41, of Hartford, according to Lt. Josh Veilleux, of the Winslow Police Department.
Bentley attempted to avoid the crash by pulling his vehicle to the right into the breakdown lane, but was unsuccessful.
Bentley had to be extricated from the car by Winslow Fire and Rescue but did not suffer any injuries.
Christiansen was taken to Inland Hospital by Delta ambulance and then by LifeFlight to Lewiston. His injuries are not life-threatening, Veilleux said.
No passengers were in either vehicle.
Police were able to view the crash from footage captured by a homeowner’s security camera and believe Christiansen either fell asleep at the wheel or got distracted.
No charges are pending.
