A car crash Tuesday morning in the northbound lanes Interstate 95 in West Gardiner closed the right lane of traffic and caused delays for more than an hour, authorities said.
By 9:24 a.m., the right lane was again open and traffic returned to normal, according to the Maine Turnpike Authority.
Police didn’t respond to a request for comment later Tuesday and little information was immediately available about the crash, including whether anyone was injured.
The crash appeared to send a car off the highway and up a hill. It was originally reported to be in Farmingdale, but officials later said it occurred on a section of highway in West Gardiner.
Around 8:05 a.m., the a sport utility vehicle could be seen on its side and up a hill from the highway. Several Maine State Police cruisers were at the crash scene.
For about an hour and a half, the northbound right lane was blocked at mile 104, according to the Maine Turnpike Authority. That’s between exit 103 in West Gardiner and the end of the Maine Turnpike at exit 109 in Augusta.
