LEWISTON — Police charged five Lewiston High School students last week for assaulting a 16-year-old student on school property.
The five students were issued summonses for misdemeanor simple assault on Thursday by the school’s resource officer, Lt. David St. Pierre said Monday.
All of the students are in the 9th grade. Because they are juveniles, their names have not been released, St. Pierre said.
The assault happened on April 5 on a path that starts at Caron Street and leads to the school, he said.
The incident was reported to the school’s resource officer, who is continuing to investigate the matter, St. Pierre said.
Meanwhile, the school’s staff will determine whether any of the students’ actions have violated school policies and and which disciplinary measures should be taken, if any, because the incident occurred on school property, St. Pierre said.
