WATERVILLE — Maine State Historian Earle G. Shettleworth, Jr. will present an illustrated lecture about his new book “Waterville,” which features historic post card views of the city from 1900 to 1960. His talk will begin at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the Waterville Opera House. Tickets for this lecture cost $5, the author will remain for book signings and questions after the presentation.
The vintage postcards forming the basis of Shettleworth’s book were found by the author in collections of the Maine Historic Preservation Commission, in Augusta; the Penobscot Marine Museum in Searsport; and the Waterville Historical Society. His presentation includes historical commentary and views from the Waterville area which represent the ten chapters in the book.
