WATERVILLE — Delta will kick off the week-long National Emergency Medical Services Week celebration from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, May 19, at its Waterville Station, 29 Chase Ave.

The event, initiated by President Gerald Ford in 1974, will include equipment displays from many various departments and organizations. Equipment such as Kennebec County EMA’s communication trailer, Delta’s Specialty Support trailer, the Seat-belt Convincer, rescue apparatus and more will be included.

The free event also will include a bounce house for children, a day-long cookout, music, live radio broadcast, Delta Station tours and more.

National Emergency Medical Services Week, this year May 20-27, brings together local communities and medical personnel to publicize safety and honor the dedication of those who provide the day-to-day lifesaving services of medicine’s front line.
