Andy started his photojournalism career with the Kennebec Journal in 1995. Over the years, he has won numerous Maine Press Association awards for his images of Maine people, places and events and contributed to CentralMaine.com’s 2017-18 General Excellence Digital honor.

SNAPSHOT: Seeing double
A pair of Sandhill cranes stroll through a former cornfield Tuesday in Readfield. Farmer Elmer Elvin detected the pair of birds, noted for their elaborate mating rituals, late last week. The midwestern birds, pairs of which have been spotted nesting around Belgrade, are located in a plot at the intersection of Fogg and Sadie Dunn roads.

Kennebec Ice Arena demolition under way
Cianbro workers commence razing the Kennebec Ice Arena in Hallowell Tuesday morning. The 40-year-old rink is being demolished after its collapse in early March. Management still hopes to build a new facility, according to part owner Rosy Santerre. The rink’s remains are expected to be demolished and removed in three weeks.
