Emily Higginbotham covers general news in the towns of China, Oakland, Unity, Vassalboro and Winslow. She started reporting for the Sentinel in November 2017 after working as a copy editor at the newspaper for a little over a year. Emily also writes a bi-weekly column, “Notes from a Novice,” that appears in the Sentinel and Kennebec Journal on Wednesdays. She is an Illinois native and a graduate of St. Louis University in Missouri, where she studied journalism, creative writing and political science. In her free time, she likes to travel, cook new recipes and optimistically root for Chicago sports teams.
