HIGH SCHOOL FIELD HOCKEY: Nokomis tops Winslow in battle of unbeatens
Memorable it was, as the game went back and forth and both teams denied the other’s scoring chances. Finally, with 57.3 seconds left in the first overtime, Kayla Braley scored off an insertion pass from Drew Graves on a penalty corner to give Nokomis a 1-0 victory over Winslow.

The University of Maine at Farmington field hockey team has a strange schedule. In a period of a few weeks, the Beavers have six days off, then back-to-back games, then a stretch of two games in 11 days.

HIGH SCHOOL FOOTBALL: Cony slows down Skowhegan
Against a Skowhegan team that can both run and throw effectively, the Rams allowed 296 yards and 18 first downs. But more importantly, they were able to clamp down when it counted, and Cony walked away with a 31-12 Pine Tree Conference Class B victory at Clark Field.

FAIRFIELD — Only a handful of field hockey teams in the state could play Skowhegan as competitively as Lawrence did Friday afternoon. For now, the Bulldogs will have to be content with that.

After an 0-3-1 start, the UMaine-Farmington women’s soccer team has won four in a row. UMF was selected fourth in the conference in the North Atlantic Conference preseason coaches poll, but is now second with a 3-0-0 record in conference play.
