ROAD RACING NOTEBOOK: Skowhegan race honors Paquette
The Wilton Blueberry Festival 10K — Bill Yates Memorial Race is scheduled for Friday, with a rain date of Sunday. There are actually three races on the docket: A 1-mile Fun Run/walk at 6 p.m., a 10K at 6:30 p.m., and a 5K run/walk at 6:35 p.m.

McNALLY SENIOR FIELD HOCKEY ALL-STAR GAME: East shuts out West
Saturday afternoon’s game at Colby College was well-played on both sides, but the East had far too much talent. East Most Valuable Player Kristy Bernatchez of Messalonskee scored an early goal and the East cruised to a 3-0 victory.

AMERICAN LEGION BASEBALL: The Red Barn pulls away from Madison to win Zone 2
Madison was essentially down two pitchers to The Red Barn, because Madison’s top pitcher, Taylor Bacon, is on a mission in Kosovo with his church, and the 39ers also had to play nine more innings than The Red Barn on Sunday. That made the outcome the expected one. Madison ran out of fresh arms, and The Red Barn pulled away for a 12-4 victory in the Zone 2 championship game at Morton Field.

FARMINGTON — Gardiner did the best it could against Franklin County on Friday night: Keep the game even as long as Cam Abbott was pitching, and take its chances after that.
