Mackenzie Conlogue plays tennis so well that she’ll be competing in today’s Round of 48 singles tournament at the Racket & Fitness Center in Portland. She enjoys it so much that she has constantly worked on her game to get better.

MADISON — It was Madison’s 15th win of the season, and the first loss for Oak Hill since April 24. It was a great pitching matchup between Emily McKenney and Kortni Michaud, and yet it also had some offense.

The state championship Round of 48 boys and girls singles tennis tournament begins Saturday at Lewiston High School. Bates College, the normal site for the Round of 48, is not available Saturday, but Monday’s Round of 16 and quarterfinals and Wednesday’s semifinals and finals will be at Bates.

NEWPORT — Over the past couple weeks, Nokomis has been winning softball games with its offense, and Medomak Valley has been winning them with its defense. When they met Friday afternoon, both of those strengths had an off day.
