Blaming tools, methods of murderers is useless

Facing the tragedy of the Connecticut shooting, we are desperate to do something. Politicians especially are eager to be seen to be solving the problem.

Some gave their money for our democracy

Those whose basic goal is acquiring wealth without concern for the welfare of the people should be reminded about the signers of the Declaration of Independence. Many of them lost their personal fortune for us to be a democracy.

Athletes don’t need to cheat to win

In the late 1960s, I was active in cross-country and track and set some records in those events. My senior year I broke the 4-minute time for the mile, with a time of 3.58.6, while running the 2-mile at Waterville High School.

    Special thanks for special community

My wife and I would like to take a moment to thank all the good people who helped us on Jan. 4 and 5 with our broken snowsled on ITS 87 in Moscow. We were looking at a very long walk.

I would like to express my sincere thanks to all the citizens of District 59, Gardiner and Randolph. Over the past eight years I have been accountable to them and have been honest, sincere and forthright in all my public service endeavors and honored to do so.
