Dugas was great choice for golfer of the year

The Morning Sentinel Golfer of the Year, Gavin Dugas, could not have been a better choice. As a member of J.W. Parks for the past several years, I have played golf occasionally with Dugas and watched him grow into a very mature young man and an excellent golfer. His attitude and focus on the situations at hand are exceptional. He is always a gentleman. Credit must be given to his parents, Mike and Dawn. His brother, Eric, is also growing into a mature young man and a very good golfer. This family owned golf course is an asset to central Maine and I have found it well worth it to travel 30 minutes to play a game I love, and played, for more than 60 years.

Why haven’t we heard who shot Kerry Hebert?

Does anyone else find it curious that the person who shot Kerry Hebert in Starks has yet to be named? Somerset County Sheriff's Deputy Dale Lancaster says it's because the investigation is still incomplete. The fatal shooting in Wales is still under investigation, and the shooter was named after two days. What is so special about Hebert's assailant? Why is he/she being so obviously shielded? I suspect there is substantial power and/or money at issue here. Why all the secrecy? The shooter willfully poked Hebert with a 30-06 rifle, and the rifle fired accidentally? Should a person with such limited control be allowed to own and handle firearms? I guess it depends upon whom. Hence the question, who is this privileged individual?

When an ID is lost, whole world comes to a halt

"The New America" is what it is, but I don't have to like it as such.

History of technology at a camp in Maine

In 1969, my father befriended a man who owned a couple of cabins in Penobscot County that we rent every year. No running water or electricity. Propane for the fridge, lights and stove. Perfect for getting away from the bustling life that is Sidney.

Why are farmers regulated but not oil companies?

I'm still confused. Our government can tell our farmers who are struggling to make a living that they can charge only so much for a gallon of milk and it can tell the post office that it can't raise the price of a stamp and also can't cut any deliveries on Saturdays to try to make ends meet.

Wondering who letter actually was blaming

It's hard to tell how amusing Greg Theriault's letter of Nov. 10, "United States of America: Born 1776, died 2012," is meant to be.

Why are Republicans signing pledges that supersede their oath of office?
