Photos: World champion pétanque player Marco Foyot teaches Augusta enthusiasts how to up their game
World Champion Marco Foyot, of France, visited the Mill Park pétanque courts Friday in Augusta for a demonstration and clinic. In pétanque, players aim to beat opponents by throwing boules as close to a target ball as possible while standing in a circle with both feet on the ground. Foyot is a seven-time French national champion in the sport and also won the country's junior championship twice. As a member of France's triples team in World Pétanque Championship competition, he has won a gold, a silver and four bronze medals. All photos by Joe Phelan.

Gardiner man confessed to robbery of Augusta bank, police say
Documents filed in court by Augusta police say Joshua A. Brougham confessed to them he robbed Camden National Bank on Saturday, Oct. 15 because he needed money to support a drug habit, pay back a debt and buy gas.

Augusta police release further details about suspect in bank robbery
The suspect is described as a white male between 5 feet 7 inches and 5 feet 10 inches tall and 150 to 180 pounds. In a photograph released by police, the suspect is wearing a brown hat, a light-colored protective mask, a dark jacket and dark athletic pants, possibly with a light stripe.
